Two Worlds, Her Lens

CATHERINE CRAIG became the first woman camera operator at George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic when she was hired in the FX animation department to shoot on Explorers, Goonies and Mishima. She's worked as a director, producer, live action and FX camera operator and owned and operated her own film production company. Craig is credited as a filmmaker and digital artist on over 36 major motion pictures including Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Transformers, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and The Mummy, for which she was invited to speak about at Siggraph 1999: Abstracts and Application; Creating Digital Corpses for "The Mummy". She is knowledgeable in all aspects of traditional and digital film-making.

Craig studied directing at American Conservatory Theater and script analysis and directing with the legendary Jean Shelton after obtaining her BFA at California College of the Arts.  Her secondary film education came when she was Archivist and Director of Domestic and International Distribution for Francis Ford Coppola's award winning company, American Zoetrope. She worked closely with Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Canal+, and Skywalker Sound as well as with Francis Coppola, Richard Beggs, Walter Murch, Robert Dalva and Vittorio Storaro.

Catherine owns the production company, OddFX, LLC.
